A True Dogsledding Thrill

Try Alaska’s official sport and learn how to steer a dog sled on the most authentic dogsledding experience available Alaska’s summer season! You’ll travel from Juneau by helicopter on a scenic flight and land on a snow-covered glacier. Then you’ll meet your friendly team of huskies who will powerfully pull you along in your sled as you shout commands to them. “Gee!” Haw!”

Your cruise excursion adventure begins here...

Day 1

Meet your tour representative near the cruise ship terminal. A courtesy transfer will be provided to the heliport to begin your special adventure. The helicopter flight to the glacier is only one part of this legendary experience that includes flying over the Juneau Icefield to the dog camp, a kennel tour, and an exhilarating dogsled ride. When you take off, glaciers are seemingly within arm’s reach and the glacier-carved mountains will unfold in front of your eyes as you embark on your helicopter flight over the Juneau Icefields to the dogsled camp. Arrive at your destination, the Herbert Glacier, and meet the eager Alaska huskies ready to lead you. Hear unique personal accounts of the Iditarod, take pictures, and dress up in original Iditarod Trail dogsled gear and finishing bibs.

Feel the excitement as your team of 12-14 dogs is hooked, then…you are off! Imagine yourself standing on the runners of a dogsled with a team of Alaskan huskies loping across the ancient snowfields nestled among the peaks of the vast Juneau Icefield. The lure of the trail and thrill of driving a dog team creates this ultimate experience. You may choose to ride the runners or sit comfortably on the sled for the duration of your ride.

Thanks for your wonderful planning and support of our recent WPO Houston trip to Alaska.  As you may have observed, we are very “spoiled” and used to extraordinary events and experiences unavailable any other way.  Against that very high standard, the Alaska trip in all respects was absolutely off the charts –...
