Enjoy an intimate, local Alaska day trip getting active in beautiful Haines, Alaska. A ferry ride from Skagway unites you with your biking guide and your bike for the day. Take off for fun for the trailhead and then hike down to a pristine beach where you can scope for marine life. After biking back to town, you’ll sample the best in local Alaska micro brews.
Get Outdoors and Get Active!
Day 1
From Skagway, take a 45-minute fast ferry ride across the Chilkoot Inlet to Haines. After a brief walk to your bike shop, your expert cycling guide will outfit you with your bike for the day. With your guide, you’ll ride along a scenic 2-mile beach-side road to the Battery Point Trailhead.From the trailhead, join your biking guide for a mile hike down to the beach at Battery Point through a beautiful Alaska rainforest environment on a well-maintained cycling trail. This is a great place to spot seals, sea lions, whales, and many types of birds. Enjoy a little time at the beach before returning to your bikes and riding back into town.
Back in town, visit The Haines Brewing Company to try their locally crafted beers (for adults 21+ only / root beer and tea also available). The brewery occupies a state-of-the-art new building on Main St. Sample a few 4oz portions of beer before riding the final mile back to the bike shop. Return to Skagway aboard the fast ferry and make your way back to your cruise ship.
