Susitna Adventure Lodge (Summer)

Breathe in the clean Alaskan air, away from life’s bustle

The Susitna Lodge was built in the 1950’s and historically served as a seasonal roadhouse for visitors along the Denali Highway, the only route at the time to access Denali National Park. It also operated as a hunting lodge plane base for remote hunting and fishing trips. Today, Susitna Adventure Lodge strives to provide an authentic Alaskan experience with all the comforts of home. This lodge-based stay has many optional activities include summer dog mushing, guided wilderness hiking, ATV sightseeing,  canoe exploration of the Tangle Lake Archaeological District, fishing, a Denali Highway road tour, MacLaren Glacier hike and paddle, flightseeing tours with a glacier landing, and helicopter tours.

Unleash your passion for the wild

Day 1

Arrive in Anchorage

Whether you are arriving into Anchorage from another Alaska destination, or this is your first stop in Alaska, an overnight in Anchorage is recommended prior to visiting Susitna Adventure Lodge.  A private vehicle and driver will meet you to provide a transfer to your hotel.  Enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown Anchorage.

Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 2

Travel to Susitna Adventure Lodge

The lodge is located at Mile 77.5 of the Denali Highway and is accessible by vehicle, float plane and wheeled plane. The Denali Highway, completed in 1957, is a historic route offering a rugged but rewarding 135-mile journey through Alaska’s remote wilderness. Known for its gravel surface, limited services, and breathtaking views of the Alaska Range, including Denali, the highway provides unique opportunities for wildlife viewing, outdoor recreation, and glimpses into prehistoric archaeological sites. This seasonal route is closed from October to May, but during the summer months, it captivates travelers with its untouched beauty.

Day 3

Explore the Lodge

Unplug and connect with nature (take long walks, enjoy the scenery, learn about mushing) while relaxing at the lodge.

Optional activities include summer dog mushing, guided wilderness hiking, ATV sightseeing,  canoe exploration of the Tangle Lake Archaeological District, fishing, Denali Highway road tour, MacLaren Glacier hike and paddle, flightseeing and glacier landing, and helicopter tours.

The aerial perspective unveils the sheer grandeur of Denali’s snow-capped peaks, sprawling glaciers, and untouched wilderness, providing an unforgettable experience and a photographer’s dream come true.

Day 5

Depart Susitna Adventure Lodge

After so much exciting and authentic Alaskan adventure, you may need a vacation from your vacation!  But you are more likely to depart this special place with a renewed sense of spirit and appreciation for these ‘wild’ Alaskan lands and people.  Your private driver/guide will pick you up, bring you to Fairbanks and take you to your hotel for your last night in Alaska.

Overnight in Fairbanks
