Inside Denali National Park
The Denali Backcountry Lodge is located in a valley setting surrounded by wilderness in the heart of Denali National Park’s Kantishna region. Staying in Kantishna is a different experience from visiting the park only by bus / or staying at the Denali park entrance area as you have more time to explore the natural beauty the park offers at a relaxed pace in scenic surroundings.
Because of its remote location you won’t have access to our usual daily distractions. This is truly an opportunity to un-plug and experience a few days of peace and quiet while you explore the Alaskan wilderness of Denali National Park.
Denali Backcountry Lodge is spread over spacious grounds. The main lodge building houses the dining area, a bar, a sitting area, and a gift shop. The guest rooms are separate cabins spread throughout the campus.
The spacious grounds allow guests easy access from their rooms/cabins to all of the property’s amenities, dining, and social areas while maintaining a beautiful Alaskan wilderness setting. Relax after a day of adventure around one of the fire pits or on one of the two screened-in decks that offer the soothing sights and sounds of Moose Creek.
Denali Backcountry Lodge offers all guests a cozy and authentic place to stay inside Denali Park. (Please note that the accommodation is not deluxe or luxury and could be considered a bit basic.)
All single and duplex-style cabins feature original rustic comforts, 2 full extra-large Pillowtop beds or a King bed, a private bath, blackout curtains, and heated rooms for a peaceful night’s sleep.
The lodge is located in Kantishna at the end of the park road, approximately 92 miles from the park entrance. The lodge is accessible by private shuttle bus provided by the lodge from the Denali Park entrance. When departing Kantishna there are also opportunities to fly by bush plane back to the park entrance, Anchorage, or Fairbanks.
There are no restaurants or stores in Kantishna so all meals are included in the lodge packages. Breakfast and lunch are buffets featuring homemade goodies that are made fresh daily, and dinner is served family style in the main lodge dining room. All meals feature the freshest seasonal and local ingredients to fuel you for your day of adventure. Special meal requests can be prepared with advance notice and should be addressed at the time of booking.
Daily guided activities such as hikes, nature walks, and mountain biking are included in the lodge stay. Nearby Moose Creek provides the opportunity to try gold panning or catch-and-release fly fishing for Arctic Grayling. Massages are available at an additional cost at The Nest Spa & Wellness Center.
