This Alaskan-owned, eco-friendly lodge is perched on a tundra plateau that offers views of Denali and the surrounding mountains. Famous Wonder Lake is just two miles away and is accessible by foot path or lodge vehicle.
The lodge owners believe in stewardship of the land and in turn educating those that come to visit. Naturalist-led hikes, field trips, and evening programs provide unique insight into the park that very few visitors get to experience. The remoteness of the lodge provides a peaceful haven for those looking for an experience away from the crowds.
The North Face Lodge was originally founded as a 5-acre homestead. The lodge is made up of modern guest rooms that are joined by a common veranda that leads to the lodge’s sitting room, fireplace, dining area, and library. The lodge also features a spacious outdoor patio that offers spectacular views of the Alaska Range.
Rooms are small and well-appointed with en-suite bathrooms, electricity, and central heating. The rooms have bedding and curtains hand-crafted by the staff and features carefully selected artwork from Alaskan artists. Rooms are connected by the covered main deck to the spacious patio, living, and dining areas.
North Face Lodge is accessible by a 6-7-hour bus tour from the Denali National Park Entrance. The lodge provides a shuttle bus to and from the Denali park entrance.
Despite the remote setting, the North Face Lodge offers a high standard and commitment to their cuisine. All meals are included in your stay. Breakfast and dinner are served family style and lunch is a full spread of sandwich fixings and snacks for you to create a sack lunch to take on the day’s adventure. Whenever possible the lodge strives to use in-season produce from their own green house or local growers and their meat from local farms. Sourcing their ingredients locally helps to minimalize their environmental footprint and lends to the sustainable mission of the lodge.
Guided group hikes are offered every day and organized by the level of physical activity, providing the best experience for each guest. Knowledgeable guides share their knowledge of the wildlife, landscape and history of the region. You also have the opportunity to seek out independent adventures during your stay. The lodge offers trail and topographic maps, canoes, bikes, and fishing gear for use. Wonder Lake and Moose Creek are close to the lodge and offer fishing opportunities. Each evening offers opportunities to relax by the fire or to take in an evening program.
