Winterlake Lodge to Tutka Bay: Do It All!

Day 1

Arrive in Anchorage

Upon arrival at the Anchorage Airport receive a private greeting and meet your driver for an exclusive transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 2

Fly from Anchorage to Winterlake Lodge

Receive a private transfer to Lake Hood, the world’s largest floatplane base for your transfer to Winterlake Lodge by floatplane on a scenic one-hour flight.

Situated on the western edge of the Alaska Range, Winterlake Lodge is situated amidst wild and rugged mountains, glaciers, and the historic Iditarod dogsled trail. You will be met by friendly lodge staff upon arrival who will assist you in planning your afternoon activities. Settle in to lodge life with a delicious lunch as you head off on a day of adventure. Optional activities include hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, enjoying the lodge’s sauna, and fishing.

An evening wine and cheese reception will proceed your gourmet dinner this evening. At the end of the day, relax and snuggle into your private cabin.

Overnight at Winterlake Lodge, your home for the next two nights.

Day 3

Winterlake Lodge

Your private guides will discuss your options for activities today all experienced by private helicopter. You’ll love the lodge meals, freshly prepared by award-winning chefs. You may choose to fly-out to a remote river for some fly fishing or explore an alpine ridge on foot with views of the Alaska Range and Tordrillo Mountains.

When you return to the lodge, you can enjoy a cooking class, or take a scenic paddle on the lake. Tonight, settle in with a cocktail on the deck.

Day 4

Travel from Winterlake Lodge to Tutka Bay Lodge

Enjoy breakfast at Winterlake Lodge then say good-bye to your lodge guides as you board your floatplane for a scenic flight to Tutka Bay Lodge.  Your route takes you along Cook Inlet, lined with active volcanoes.  The mountains of Lake Clark National Park jut dramatically out of the waters below you and you may see pods of beluga whales swimming in the Inslet. You’ll touch down in Tutka Bay where you will be met by the lodge staff.

Settle into your cabin and enjoy a delicious home-made lunch as you enjoy the sweeping views of Tutka Bay from the deck of your new abode.  After lunch, explore nearby hiking trails or wander the coastline by kayak.

Overnight at Tutka Bay Lodge, your home for the next two nights.

Day 5

Tutka Bay Lodge Outdoor Fun: Kayaking, Fishing, Cruising

The Lodge at Tutka Bay offers a variety of coastal activities such as sea kayaking, saltwater sportfishing, beachcombing, tidal-pool exploration, and coastal touring by boat. Or perhaps you’d prefer hiking, birding, or wildlife viewing. Guests at the lodge can also choose optional other fly-out excursions from bear viewing along the Katmai coast, to deep-sea fishing, or helicopter flightseeing. Meals at the lodge feature fresh seafood from nearby Kachemak Bay including halibut, shellfish, and wild-run salmon.

Day 6

Tutka Bay Lodge to Anchorage - Tour Anchorage

Enjoy one last breakfast at the lodge this morning before returning to Anchorage on a private floatplane. Your private driver/guide will greet you as you touch down and then, tailored to your specific interests, you’ll tour Alaska’s largest city, hike Flattop Mountain for panoramic views of Anchorage, or visit the shops along 4th Avenue in Anchorage for a taste of local Alaskan flavor.

Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 7

Depart Anchorage

Today, say farewell to Alaska and receive a private transfer to the Anchorage Airport for your departure flight.
