A Private Cruise Aboard the M/V Sea Mist

An Exclusive Cruise Through Prince William Sound

This tour is sold out for 2024

Your own personal cruise into Prince William Sound awaits as you explore its waters in Southcentral Alaska aboard The Sea Mist.  A private yacht charter is the ideal way to explore Alaska for families of all ages. With a maximum capacity of 6 guests, your private yacht will provide access to adventure that larger vessels can’t access.  You’ll get up close to dozens of tidewater glaciers, spectacular waterfalls, and a myriad of Alaskan wildlife from bald eagles, seabirds, otters, to the occasional whale.  For the more adventurous guest, you can spend your day kayaking or paddle boarding in a hidden cove, or hiking along a trail inaccessible by road.

Wildlife, Waterfalls & Glaciers!

Day 1

Arrive in Anchorage; Travel to Girdwood

Receive a personal greeting by your guide/driver upon arrival in Anchorage who will take you by private vehicle to Girdwood, 40 miles south of Anchorage. Girdwood lies in the heart of the Chugach National Forest and provides a welcome oasis after a day of travel.  Relax at Alyeska Resort in the saltwater swimming pool or whirlpool, or take a scenic ride on their tram to the top of Mt. Alyeska and enjoy dinner at one of Alaska’s most highly-rated dining venues – Seven Glaciers Restaurant.

Overnight in beautiful Girdwood, Alaska.

Day 2

Girdwood to Whittier; Embarkation

Enjoy a delicious breakfast today before meeting your private driver to begin the day’s adventures.  Your first destination is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a non-profit organization that takes in injured and orphan animals in hopes of rehabilitating them and returning them to the wild.  A behind-the-scenes guided tour will give you a unique perspective about the important work this facility pursues.

Continue your journey through the Portage River Valley to Whittier.  Here you will meet your ship’s crew and board your private 78-foot custom built yacht, The M/V Sea Mist.  Settle in and enjoy cocktails and dinner as you depart Whittier for the waters of Prince William Sound.  Over a glass of wine, discuss your interests with your captain, who will tailor your journey accordingly.

You’ll spend four luxurious evenings aboard the M/V Sea Mist with all meals, activities, and accommodations included in your private cruise.

Day 3

Discover the Wildlife of Prince William Sound

Prince William Sound is home to a variety of wildlife.  Humpback and orca whales are prevalent in this area, shooting air from their blowholes and flipping their tails and fins as they come up for air.  You are likely to come across sea otters, Dall’s porpoise, harbor seals, Steller sea lions, and a variety of species of fish – even jelly fish  – call this area home.  For bird lovers the Sound is home to 200 species of birds, including an abundance of breeding bald eagles.  Along the coastlines keep an eye out for black and brown bear, mountain goats, and perhaps even the occasional Sitka black-tailed deer.  Your personal captain and crew know these waters and islands well and will help you check off your wildlife and birding wish lists as you travel through these pristine waters.  This is your cruise and your time to spend however you wish.

Day 4

Glacier Ice - It's so Nice!

Over 150 glaciers exist in Prince William Sound, including several tidewater glaciers.  Most of these are hanging glaciers, nestled into the crevices of the surrounding mountains in the horizon.  But nothing compares to the sights  (and sounds!) of glacier ice calving into the waters below.  Your private yacht allows special access to see these towering natural sculptures at a close – but safe –  distance for excellent glacier viewing.  Enjoy a champagne brunch “glacier side”, while you watch, wait, and listen for the surprises unfold before you in the massive crevasses and walls of blue ice.

Day 5

Serenity in the Sound

Most of the land surrounding Prince William Sound lies within the Chugach National Forest, a well-known natural “playground” in Alaska. Your chartered vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art sporting equipment for a water or land-based day of adventure.  Explore hidden coves by kayak or paddleboard in front of a waterfall, around every corner discover calm, quiet inlets as you explore the area.   If you feel like stretching your legs you can even paddle up to shore to land your craft and go on a guided hike.  New opportunities for fun await around every bend.  What memories will you make on your private adventure?

Day 6

The Adventure Continues...

Enjoy one last breakfast aboard the Sea Mist before bidding farewell to your captain and crew upon return to Whittier.  Your private driver/guide will meet you as you disembark the vessel to whisk you away to your next Alaska adventure.

Amenities, nearby adventures and more...

Price range:  $2000 - $4000 per person, per day

Main Ship

The 78-foot Knight and Carver custom built yacht is equipped with state-of-the-art stabilizers, ensuring the utmost comfort as you travel through the waters of Prince William Sound.  The yacht is beautifully appointed and features a spacious main salon that doubles as the dining area.  Wrap-around windows provide maximum viewing space so you can always keep your eye on the water and maybe even catch a sunset whale breaching show.

Staterooms

The Sea Mist staterooms are appointed with all the comforts of home so you can soundly relax after a day of adventure.  Each has its own ensuite bathroom, and generous storage space for you to settle in for your big adventures.  The Chinook Suite boasts a queen-sized, pillow-top bed and an extra large bathroom.  The Sockeye Suite offers two side-by-side twin beds, and the Coho suite features top and bottom bunk beds – perfect for families with children (note, a second suite with side-by-side twin beds can be substituted for an all-adult charter).

This small ship cruise typically begins and ends in Whittier, just 60 miles from Anchorage by highway.  The small town of Whittier is accessible via the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel – the longest highway tunnel in North America at 2.5 miles.  The one-lane tunnel operates on a schedule allowing vehicles – and the Alaska Railroad – to share the tunnel at various times.  Other options for reaching the vessel include Alaska Railroad and even chartered planes and/or helicopters from Anchorage.

The Sea Mist’s chef prepares delicious meals based on your pre-arranged culinary preference and dietary needs.  You can choose from a wide array of surf and turf options.  A favorite guest activity is to help set a shrimp pot in the morning – embark on a day of adventure – then come back to the pot in the evening to have the fresh shrimp incorporated in the evening appetizer or main entrée.  A family-friendly activity that everyone will enjoy.

Your private yacht experience will be tailored just for you by the captain and crew so you and your companions have the opportunity to enjoy the Prince William Sound adventure of your dreams.  Wildlife viewing is a daily occurrence in these scenic Alaska waters so keep your eyes peeled and your cameras ready!  For the more adventurous water-based options include kayaking among the icebergs or in a hidden cove, or even stand-up paddle boarding!  Make a day of it with the family and pull up to a beach for a light hike followed by a bonfire under the evening skies.  The options are as endless as your imaginations.
