Day 1

Anchorage to Girdwood

Arrive in Anchorage and meet your private driver/guide at the airport who will take you by a private transfer to your hotel, located south of Anchorage along scenic Turnagain Arm in the mountainside community of Girdwood, situated amidst dramatic mountains and glaciers.

Overnight in Girdwood.

Day 2

Girdwood Rafting on Portage River - Travel to Homer

This morning, your driver/guide will escort you to Portage River where you’ll climb aboard your private raft for a gentle float trip down this scenic, glacier-fed waterway. Soak in the panoramic views of glaciers hanging over the riverbanks and the surrounding mountains as your experienced Alaska rafting guide steers you down the river.

Afterward, meet your private driver/guide and journey south along the scenic Kenai Peninsula to Homer, the ‘Halibut Capital of the World’. Along the way consider stopping at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, or ask your driver/guide for their favorite places to stop for photos.

Overnight in Homer, your home for the next two nights.

Day 3

Homer Adventures: Bear Viewing or Fishing

Enjoy a leisurely morning at your Homer hotel as you look out across Kachemak Bay. Homer is a great launching point for adventure. Consider a private bear viewing excursion to Katmai National Park or choose an exclusive full-day fishing charter.  Homer’s main hub of activity in the summer is known as ‘The Spit’ and is home to numerous local shops, restaurants, and where visitors can see record-breaking halibut being weighed in.

Day 4

Homer to Seward - Exit Glacier or Sightseeing

Continue exploring the Kenai Peninsula as you make your way north with your private driver/guide to Seward, situated at the head of Resurrection Bay. Seward is one of Alaska’s oldest and most scenic communities, and is known as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. The rest of the day is yours to customize as you enjoy your time in this coastal town. Spend time downtown exploring the harbor and local shops or visit Exit Glacier, the only glacier within Kenai Fjords National Park that is accessible by road. Afterwards, relax at your lodge for the evening.

Overnight in Seward, your home for the next two nights.

Day 5

Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park: Wildlife and Glaciers

Today board a high-speed catamaran to cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park in search of wildlife and glaciers. Scout for sea otters, sea lions, seals, puffins, and whales before pulling up alongside an actively calving tidewater glacier. Lunch will be included onboard as you take in the magnificent seacoast sights around you.

That evening your private driver/guide can recommend their favorite hidden gems in Seward for dinner or additional sightseeing.

Overnight in Seward.

Day 6

Travel from Seward to Talkeetna

Today’s journey will be fully tailored to your interests. This morning, travel north with your private driver/guide to the quaint town of Talkeetna. Along the way pass through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, carved out by glaciers long ago and offering expansive views of alpine peaks and valleys, rivers and streams, and vast pine and birch forests. Talkeetna is a popular area for those who want to embark on a flightseeing tour to see the iconic mountain of Denali, ‘The Great One’.  Your private driver/guide can make stops along the way for photos and lunch.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled – bears, caribou, Dall sheep, and moose all call this park home. Upon arrival receive a lodge orientation and enjoy dinner before relaxing in your private cabin deep within Denali’s forested wilderness.

Day 9

Denali National Park to Anchorage on the Alaska Railroad

Return by the lodge bus to the Denali Park Entrance, enjoying more opportunities along the way to spot the park’s abundant flora and fauna. At the Park Entrance, you’ll board a luxury dome railcar on the Alaska Railroad (GoldStar service) for your scenic rail journey through Alaska’s backcountry to Anchorage. Dinner on the train is included as you take in the passing sights and possible views of wildlife (12:30H-20:00H).
