Begin your private adventure in Fairbanks then it’s on to Denali National Park for wildlife viewing, hiking, mountain biking or gold panning and a glimpse of mighty Denali itself. Continue south on the iconic Alaska Railroad to Talkeetna, a quaint community and a mecca for climbers wishing to summit Denali. Travel through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley to Palmer for gold mining history and continue your fun with a flightseeing tour with bear viewing in Lake Clark National Park or Katmai National Park.

The Best Highlights of a Truly Unique Destination

Day 1

Arrive in Fairbanks

Touch down in Fairbanks, known as the Gateway to the Arctic, where you will find your private driver awaiting you. Get a glimpse of what it looks like living in the far north during your private transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

Fairbanks into Denali National Park

Your private driver/guide will greet you in the hotel lobby this morning for your private transfer south to Denali National Park. The rolling tree covered hills of Fairbanks will suddenly shift to  glacier carved valleys, lined with tundra. At the Denali Park Entrance you will board your lodge’s shuttle for your stunning journey into the heart of the park.

Your experienced and knowledgeable driver will help you spot wildlife in the neighboring landscapes as you drive past braided rivers and colorful willow bushes. Arrive at the lodge in time for dinner and get settled into your wilderness accommodations.

Overnight in Denali National Park.

 

Day 3

Explore Denali National Park

Spend the day in the majestic shadow of Denali.  Your activity choices include guided hikes for all abilities on Denali National Park hiking trails, mountain biking, or gold panning.  Enjoy all meals while at the lodge and share stories of your days adventure in the main lodge over dinner.

Overnight in Denali National Park.

Day 4

Denali National Park to Talkeetna

Return to the Denali Park Entrance via your lodge shuttle in time to board a luxury domed railcar on the Alaska Railroad (GoldStar class) for a scenic journey by rail to Talkeetna. Experience near panoramic views as the train passes through the rugged Alaska Range and keep an eye out for different species of wildlife along the way. Lunch is included onboard the train before arriving into Talkeetna (12:30H – 16:50H) where you’ll meet your private driver/guide and transfer to your hotel. Your driver/guide can offer suggestions for dinner in Talkeetna and which shops to explore this evening for local handmade goodies.

Overnight in Talkeetna.

Day 5

Travel from Talkeetna to Anchorage

Continue south by private vehicle towards Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage. Your journey will bring you through one of Alaska’s most important agricultural areas, the Matanuska – Susitna Valley. Stop in the farming community of Palmer and walk through the quaint downtown shops. In addition to farming, this area in Alaska has a rich gold mining history and a stop at Independence Mine will allow you to explore many historic buildings. Conclude your sightseeing fun in Anchorage after you arrive at your Anchorage hotel.

Overnight in Anchorage, your home for the next two nights.

Day 6

Bear Viewing

This morning, you’ll transfer by private vehicle to Lake Hood. You’ll board a floatplane for flightseeing and the chance to see Alaskan brown bears in the wild. Depending on the time of your tour,  you will visit either Lake Clark National Park or Katmai National Park. You can watch bears hunting for salmon or swimming with their young and you might even catch one after a big meal napping at the water’s edge.

At the end of your day, you’ll return to your hotel and enjoy your last evening in Anchorage. Your driver/guide can offer suggestions about the best Anchorage restaurants.

Day 7

Depart Anchorage

Today, say farewell to Alaska and receive a private transfer to the Anchorage Airport for your departure flight.
