Over 98% of the brown bear population in the United States call Alaska home, drawing visitors from across the world to view these magnificent creatures.

With visits to Denali National Park, to view grizzly bears, and to Kodiak, to experience the enormity of the Kodiak brown bear, you will have ample opportunities to search for these giants as you make your way through Alaska.  Watch them feed on salmon and berries as they cross mountainous terrain and gravel beaches on this 9-day program.

Fairbanks to Kantishna / Denali National Park

Travel south the Denali Park Entrance by private vehicle. Board your lodge shuttle for a day of sightseeing through Denali National Park (6 hours). Look for bear, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and wolves, as well as the spectacular scenery.

Sightsee today with guided hikes, gold panning, nature walks, or biking. Enjoy evening lectures and discussions led by lodge staff.

This morning fly over the Alaska Range to the Denali Park Entrance. Board luxury dome railcars for passage to Anchorage.

Anchorage to Kodiak Brown Bear Center

Fly to Kodiak this morning (1 hour) and transfer to a floatplane for a flight to Kodiak Brown Bear Center (45 minutes). Explore the shores of Karluk Lake in search of bears this afternoon.

Make It Your Own

  • Search for Alaskan black bears by extending your visit to Southeast Alaska.
